The goal for all recording and mixing rooms is to have a more or less uniform decay time over the full range of frequencies. The only way to know for sure what a room needs is to measure it. But generally speaking, the preferred treatment plan is
broadband absorption that absorbs well down to at least 100 Hz. So that implies thick absorbers everywhere.
