I think part of my problem is I keep listening to things like this and getting frustrated haha. but these guys are on an insane budget in amazing rooms. Not to mention the amazing drumming of Chris Adler and the amount of production and engineering that goes into these recordings.

I'm a perfectionist to a fault sometimes

My wife says it sounds like the aluminum wheel sorting facility about 4 blocks from our house. Seriously, the room sounds actually really nice. Kind of open and airy and a fresh feel. Those cymbals, on the other hand...

haha cool maybe im just looking too much into it. yeah..only one of them is actually worth anything and that would be the AAX Studio crash. one mistake I made when I had money and bought cymbals was I bought super heavy hats and super light crashes. the china isnt horrible but it isnt exactly great either. the ride is the most livable i think.

oh and I just realized I left on some eq I was experimenting with on that track and it sounds funky. heres the one with some reverb and the EQ off of the overheads(except for the Hi-Pass)

Yeah. That'll happen. You should always keep the ultimate goal in mind, but don't let it bother you emotionally. Just remember you are on quest that is going to take some time.

The Lamb of God sound is not a natural sound. I'm positive they aren't just using Recorderman with a couple MXLs or even high end mics. They DEFINITELY have samples in there in one way or another. Close micing into ktdrumtrigger into Superior Drummer 2.0 or Steven Slate is the fastest way to get where you want to go.

I now see this was an old thread. So where are you now on the quest?
