Help me design this studio/decide what to do with this space!

Right, heres the deal. I have a 10x25 foot room (about 8 foot high) which I used to use for band practices and odd recording session. It was great for band practices ,apart from the neighbors occasionally telling us to turn down. Which was fair enough really, I normally had my 65 reverb cranked right up just to cut through everything else.

I'l skip the rest of the details..




Keeping budget to a minimum, I want to improve the acoustics of my room. They are nice, but the room has crazy fat ambience which needs to be lessened a considerable amount. Sound proofing a bit wouldn't go a miss either.

I was thinking bass traps as a start, similar to these

Geisen DIY Corner Bass Trap

in the corners. Then some sort of foam absorption on the walls.


What can I do with the ceiling?

I'm clutching at straws here really, not much idea on how to go about it all..

Do those have a plywood back? If so, that's not a good way to make corner bass traps. See this:

Didn't think so. I thought it was just essentially suspended and compacted rock wool.

Not so sure now you bring that up though..
