A nice solution would be to build a plywood drum riser and use rugs here, there and everywhere. I wouldn't be in a hurry to rip out the tile to put down wood. If you have unlimited money and free time, only then I would head that direction. If the room is big enough and you treat the rest of the space right (which you will need, regardless), you might have something really cool to work with.

Will this do as a riser? Oatmeal & Coffee by Philip Regan - How To Build A Drum Riser This is what we are looking for, right? Should I get rid of the carpets and leave the wood bare? Also, what do you mean by rugs here and there? Shouldn't the floor be reflective? Or should it be MOSTLY reflective? |

I like a hard surface for drums (keeping them from sliding can be tough). Knowing the surface of the floor tells us about 8% of the equation. Tell us everything. Brandon |
