Default Building home studio

Hey everyone. Wondering if someone can give me some advice. Im in the fortunate position to be able to start building a home studio in a few months time. The size of the space if have is about 6x4 for the booth and 4x4 for the controlroom.

I was wondering about building material, shape( I have heard that parllel walls are bad, if there is no way around that what about acoustic treatment + bass traps?) will it be better to build a 4x4 cube or 6x4 rectangle, What tipe of ceiling? Have heard hardwood floors are good for booth, what about controlroom, carpet? Perprex window betwen booth and conrolr?

Im not to concerned about soundproofing more acoustics, and please dont tell me to consult a acoustic adviser, I dont have the money.

Wow, that's tiny for a control room. 4-foot, by 4-foot?
Are you looking for construction tips or have the rooms already built?
Stay away from the cube shape. That's anti-acoustic sweet-spot. With this small of a space I think you may be stuck having a dual performance/controll room.

HA! Awesome-ness.
That should be plebnty of room for both. But again, make the control room 4x5 meters, just so you are not cube-shapped.

If you are constructing from scratch, design the walls to not be parralell, have the smaller, focal point be where the desk and moniotrs will be, then the open towards to back wall. Hardwood is good, but many people have gotten away with painted concrete in many good studios.

Wow thanks Ethan, I really suggest that anyone thinking about building room, or just wondering about acoustics read that article. Here is what I have decided/learn.

Booth: 4x6x2.6 (ratio used from room modes) rectangle
wood floors, rigid fibreglass in 4 corners, on ceiling and corners between ceiling
and walls.
For the other 4 walls I was wondering if it would work if I could do the plywood
diffusor thing and through some fibreglass between the wall and the plywood.
In my mind that would diffuse the mid and high freq but trap the bass freq.?
Control room: 4x3x2.6 think I'm gonna go with carpet.
fibreglass basstraps in corners. I'll see if further treatment is nessesary.
What material is good for window between booth and cr?
There is a window right symerically behind where my monitor setup will be.
Is that good or Bad? Should I maybe look to fill it with cement?

Thanx for all the advice.

That all sounds good, but I wouldn't expect much bass trapping from fiberglass that's behind something as rigid as a wood diffusor.
