Default Acoustics in 14'x14' room. Help!

Alright, so I'm kind of stuck. I've watched several videos and read up on my sound proofing and how important getting your acoustics right is. I don't want to use too much studio foam, but I don't want to use too many traps seems as though my budget isn't that big. I'm already deciding to build a studio desk as midkight did located here:

Studio Build Phase I - the audio station

I like the idea of "doing it yourself", rather than pay more for something pre made. The room I'm dealing with is 14' x 14' with an 8' ceiling. Standard square room. A window o the left, a sliding door closet to the right and the door opening inwards in the upper right hand corner.
Also got to keep in mind that I have a queen size bed as well. I wish I had another room, but the other room is our computer room. Maybe the bed will act a decent bass trap? I will also have a half cab, a 2x12 combo amp, a dresser, a computer desk as well as keyboard and possibly an electric drum set soon. A vocal booth in the closet may be an idea for the future, but not at this moment.

Any ideas on positioning studio foam, traps and diffusers if any?

This should help:

How to set up a room

Then add as many bass traps as you can manage. The more you have, the closer you'll get to a flat LF response. It's that simple.

Thanks. I actually watched the Real Traps video that used that specific diagram. It does help a lot. I think I'll just have to do some room testing to get what I'm looking for.
I'm just a bit lost as far as furniture placement. Especially the bed. I'm just worried that it might deaden the sound too much in that area of the room. But then again, the room is pretty small.
