Red Wire Cabinet Impulses
I thought this might be of interest to any guitarists wanting to get a good amp sound without cranking up. I've just bought for $9.95 a huge set of impulses of a 56 Jensen P12 using several different mics each at various distances and angles. I have found this a very realistic cabinet sim. I have a 58 Deluxe and a Beyer M160 one of the modelled mics so have a good point of reference. To get the amp sound I use a behringer ultra DI 1000 between the speaker out of the amp and a Marshall Power Brake. With the two attenuation buttons on the behringer engaged I get a line level signal which I record. On playback I insert Kefir and load a redwire impulse.
You can send them a wave recording via their Convolvobot and they will email it back to you applied through your chosen speaker impulse. They also offer a money back guarantee within 14 days.
I think this is worth checking out as a good way of getting your amp sound recorded silently - far better than pod.
