Question Need Help With Amp Choice

Hi, I havew been playing guitar for more then 6 years. I am self-taught and sometimes i feel like that could be my problem. Anyways, I have a cheap dad who would problem spend at max $200-$300 on a amp. I need good sounds cause my band and I are recording. I have great mics dont get me wrong. I just need a new amp. Im playing off a Peavey Viper 15 Watts. I play metal and hard rock and a friend told me you don't want to go digital with metal and my band is that in fact. So any recommendations for a up and coming lead guitarist?

Don't buy a Line 6 Spider - they are total junk.

DUDE!!! Just tried out a Blackheart combo. They are all tube and CRANK! If you've got a cab already, try the "handsome devil" head...they sell it in a combo for 399, but the head is under 300. Don't let the wattage specs fool you, especially since you're mic'ing. I think you'll be able to record the little bastard and get some killer tone. I'm buying the combo to record with and to do small gigs...it's ALOT lighter than my modded Hot Rod DeVille, and the tone is as sweet, plus I can turn it DOWN when I need to.

Your best result would be to push the amp with an overdrive pedal, and use the gain circuit for some scream, but they roar on thier own. Better Idea...get a job after school, try to match what dad's willing to lay out and get a used Marshall or Mesa Boogie combo...not a quick solution, but You'll respect the gear more if you buy it yourself...I know, I've been there...my dad wanted me to play but couldn't afford to buy anything. Got a job at 14 to support my habit...er...hobby

I have the blackheart little giant head, i like it but i don't think it would be very good for metal at all. this one sounds like it would work according to the reviews, but it is just a head Buy Blackstar HT Series HT-5H 5W Tube Guitar Amp Head | Tube Amp Heads | Musician's Friend

Be sure to tell him what a cheap bastard he is. Are you even serious? Man, you must really suck!

If someone gave me three bills for a kickass metal amp, I have no doubt I could come up with something that would melt your face and ring your ears for two days. Cheap dad? Dumb kid.
