Line 6 POD XT Live Description
The Line 6 POD XT Live Pedal is the POD XT in footcontroller form. With its rugged steel construction, 11-channel select and effect on/off footswitches, and a built-in wah/volume/tweak pedal, POD XT Live puts the power of the POD at your feet for onstage use. Included are 84 pro-quality stompbox and studio effects, 36 amp models, plus 24 cab, and 4 mic models all built from the award-winning technology found in the Vetta II amp and storable to 128 programmable channels. Unlike the other members of the POD family, POD XT Live guitar pedal also features a Variax digital input so you can call up a fully customized guitar, amp, or effects setup all by stepping on a single footswitch. USB digital I/O combined with Line 6 Edit software allows computer-based tone editing and direct digital recording.

Quality: 10
Its well built except for cheap ass plastic used in pedal which makes it sqweak ,but line6 will fix for free. Amazing sounds with model packs, This pedal rules as a guitar preamp. Also, teh software makes it really useable and a blast to tweak sounds and being able to download patches is awesome!! I have recorded about 70 albums with it. Going direct is ok for clean sounds but for distorted sounds still sounds best going into a guitar amp on clean and then miked. The feel of the unit is a little harsh aqnd not quite as fun or smooth as a cheapo digitech rp-50, but the sound quality is amazing. You really can get tube amp models to sound tube like.

Reliability: 8
well I have stomped the crap out of mine over the year i have had it. My only complaint is that the overall level if abused will maek the xt live cut out eventually and they placed the mic/line swithc right above it which is stupid as hell, so in messign with overall level you can hit this by mistake. another con is buying the model packs which should be a freebie.

Overall Rating: 10
with model packs its a total blast and I have used this on over 80 full length albums that were all released and the guitar sounds were really good. (see DTGUITAR.com Official Website of Guitarist Denis Taaffe !!!! is you want to hear the line 6 pod xt live on albums, albums 25-133 were all done with the line6 pod xt live), anyway my favorite pedalboard though I recall hating it the first few days I got it because it "felt harsh" and presets arent so great but it became my primary and essential go to for guitar sounds!!. Also, I tried the variax 300 guitar with it for a while and it was a total blast to play. Also, I have some tube amps and prefer teh line 6 via solid state amps no joke, though i do see that the line 6 can emulate preamps of tube amps very well ,but not the power amp section. However, its perfect for recording via solid state as it automatically gets rid of over emphasis on overbearing bass response from 4x12's extc...for direct sound, cleans are ok, but still not into the direct sound though its not bad, but you just cant beat the "real" sound of of a miked guit cab.
