POD X3 = BEST piece of gear I have ever owned I would willingly sell every other piece of gear I own before giving it up. It's that good. People who diss this haven't learned how to use it and their ego won't let them admit that THEY are the problem. "Responsibility to the responsible!" Now, to dispel the notion that I am some Line 6 employee shilling for 'the man', I am a permanently disabled musician who records his own original music on his home PC, from stoner-doom to death & black metal, and even an experimental/ambient project - ALL done with the POD X3. As much as I LOVE the POD X3, it's effects are abit weak in comparison with it's excellent amp modeling... I will be purchasing the new BOSS ME70 for my effects. If you wanna buy the POD X3 for the effects only, don't bother - it's the amp modeling where it excels. The Dual Amp feature is amazing - imagine plugging into a Marshall JCM800 and a Mesa Dual Rectifier rig, each with it's own completely independent signal path, simultaneously - ah, the sonic glory! Or say you and a buddy wanna jam - you BOTH can plug in at the same time - 2 guitars, guitar and bass, bass and vocals, whatever combination you want. Oh, I didn't mention the bass amp and vocal preamp modeling, did I? ![]() Best $399/499 you will ever spend. *EDIT: oh, and if you own a POD XT, this is NOT just an XT with all the model packs thrown in - the amp sounds themselves are better on the X3. I've got the POD XT and I've always been very happy with it. Its only weakness is the tube amp simulation, it doesn't come close to a real tube amp (that thumping kick in the nuts distortion you get out of a proper tube amp). Has this improved in the X3? I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading...

MetalGod, Its not fair to compare the x3 or any modeler for that matter to a tube amp in the room!! No way they can compete like that. Modelers are designed to sound like [I]mic'd[I]amps. To get a fair comparison you'd have to isolate your amp in another room ,mic it up and run it thru your monitors..................then you can compare. And in that situation the 3x and many others will kick ass, no questions! |
