Whats up guys? I have a important Question I need answered
I am a country singer/songwriter and probably below even the "newbie" scale of ANY sort of recording, muchless home. I actually just started singing and writing songs, even playing guitar about 3 years ago, so basically am still new to everything.
But I am to the point where I would like to start recording myself at home. My big question is.....what is the difference between buying something like a single 8 track digital recorder such as a Tascam or a Korg, opposed to doing all your recording using a laptap with audio programs and soundcards and such?
I am the only musician involved. With the exception of maybe a few drum samples, I wouldnt need something HUGE like a 16 or 20 track. Just my vocals and my guitar would basically be it. I would still use a condenser mic and such for better quality. So all I would need is 4 tracks...if that.
I know one of my fav artist youve maybe heard of "Hank III" recorded his last album "Straight to Hell" on a Multi-track Korg (I forget what model) but for those who have heard it would know the quality was kickass. Very professional sounding. And all it was, was a single digital Korg recorder. costing no more than a $1000
So all in all I want to know is whats best for me and what I want to accomplish regarding recording my country songs. Recording using a PC/Laptap....or a digital Tascam recorder with a internal cd drive for burning your music onto disc. Whats the difference and what would suit me better?
Thanks for the help, its very much appreciated.
