What should I buy???

Hi, guys
I'm new here and I'm also new in recording. So the band has decided and we want to record
Now the problem is not one of us understands how home recording works. So I, as the most intelligent of the five apes, checked some mixer-recorders on the net. But I've got to ask you too- what kind of a machine do we need to record a vocal, a back vocal, a bass, three guitars and a set of drums??? At the same time????? (We're looking for something not very expensive,mind you)

All things considered it boils down to how many mics ur gonna need on the drums... If I have it correct you want to purchase a standalone/workstation recorder?

Do u plan on using a computer?

Personally I think ull be better off going with a computer setup.... this way you could use something like the M-audio profire 2626 which has 26 ins/26 outs... leaving u with an enormous amount of ins just incase u wanna throw 10 mics on the drums, you'll have another 16 inputs to play with (check the audio interface wizard for more interface with high input counts).

I haven't personally used it but I haven't heard to many complains on here.... The complaints are usually geared to Pre***** stuff...

Yeah, but in the article on thomann it says it has 8 mic inputs, 8 1/4" outputs and TWO instrument inputs (I need four 1/4" inputs- for four guitars)


And yes I want to use a PC!
And I'm not sure I have firewire (prefer USB 2.0 anyway )

if I recall right it has the mic/line combination jacks... but being since I'm at work when I get in front of a computer I can give u a better explanation... there are so many interfaces that will fit ur needs... once again check brandons soundcard wizard and ill definetly get back to u with another option
