Default Well I did it, I ordered a MBOX 2 pro

All you people bashing ProTools, I just had to see what all this flap is about. I had some equipment money to play around with and a couple of kids were bugging me about PROTOOLS. Give me a month or and 2 and I'll let you know what I think.

I think it is a fine tool just like cubase. I kind of hate them both but I can't live without them.

People don't dislike protools because it's no good, people dislike it because it because it cost twice as much as anything else without extra functionality and you are limited to which hardware you can use.

Why do you think people buy in to the LE systems?

Digidesign interfaces comes with free Protools LE which is the exact same thing as Protools M-powered. But M-audio products, while cheaper, require you to purchase PT M-powered for $250, and are not compatible with PT LE.

If I wanted that kind of communistic structure of working, I'd go work at itunes or Dell.

I think you had to buy their box to use their software.

Now if that box is the alphaone topdog kickbutt for every interface choie then PT is good. But if you don't like it you are stuck. Have to buy both new box and new software to change.

Now if you bought any other DAW and didn't like the hardware you could always buy a new box and keep running.

If you bought any other DAW and interface and didn't like the software you only change the software.

You either have to buy into PT all the way or do not use it.

It would be interesting to know how many people buy the Mstuff type hardware and then run it with other DAWs. Is the PT hardware that good?

If that is not happening then PT condemns you to use inferior hardware.

Won't matter how great PT is , if the recording is bad because of their box then PT is irrelevant.

So -- any users of the Mstuff devices want to make a case for them being better than everything else?

I use the M-stuff. The hardware is no better or worse.

I'm here for 2nd opinions too. If you try it out and tell me it's got 42 more usable features than Cubase LE4, and it runs smoother, better plug-in and bus mixing set up, better drum step-designing, then I'm in.
The little M-box Micro is $250. It basically buying the software and getting a 1 output interface for free. I could do that.

But If you say the difference is minimal or worse, I'll keep my original opinion.

Then PT must really be whizbang stuff to buy into using their software with a device that has at least fewer i/o ports than some others.
