Default Want new recording software, please help

Hi all

I've been using Cubase LE for the past year now and I'm getting a little tired of some of it's limitations, these are

- only 2 inserts per channel
- only 2 inserts on the main buss
- only 4 efx sends
- only 4 group channels
- only 4 buss's (not a reall biggie)
- limited undo's

So..

I've been looking at some options and noticed Cubase 4 essentials, it's very reasonably priced and I'm used to Cubase already. So my questions are

- has anyone tried this program
- how different are the cubase programs, will I have to get the books out again or will it be an easy learning curve
- should I look at other options (SONAR, etc)

Unfortunately, our old boneheaded bass player lost my CD and regristration code for my LE version so I'll have to fork out another $50 for the program

Thanks for your input

Mike

You really owe it to yourself to try Reaper. Tons of people that used to use these bigger name DAWS have dumped them for Reaper. I use it and so far have been pretty pleased with it. It's only $50 and it's installer is about 13 MB. It installs in about 3 seconds, and loads in about 2 seconds.

The programmer who made it releases updates and new versions every couple months, as opposed to every couple years.

It's very stable and doesn't crash. Plus it has a very good looking default interface.

Try it. If you don't like it, you will have lost nothing.

Cubase 4 was the right call. You will feel very comfortable upgrading to the full program from LE.
