hello everyone, how is it possible that a vocal recorded through an RME FF800 in cubase sounds thinner than a vocal recorded on a 003 in protools. same mic was used same vocalist. i thought DAWs all sound the same? or am i mistaken?

i completely understand what your saying. but from my knowledge, u can barely tell the difference between 44.1 and 96 or 192. but when i t comes to processing and adding effects, 44.1 can lose quality. and thats why 96 can sound better after its effected. am i right or wrong?

But as 7thstring said, there are a number of things that will make the vocals sound different. Were they recorded in the same room? On the same day? Same room humidity? Same mic distance? Was the singer feeling better one time than the other? There are so many things that could have caused it to sound different. Microphone and preamp make up a very small part of what a recording sounds like. |

I record myself singing all the time with the same mic through the same interface into the same software at the same levels with the same plug-ins. Some sound fuller, some thinner, you get the picture.
