 Tascam FireOne Alert: Do Not Buy!
After hashing this out with Tascam for hours, their tech did tests and this is the result: Their WDM driver in rev. 1.1 (current driver, though 2 years old!) is NOT COMPATIBLE with either Vista SP1 or SP2. This means that the ASIO driver will (likely) work ok in your DAW, but you won't get any sound from any other source: Not from WMP, not any Flash or other video in Firefox, any browser, etc. Nada, nothing. Because their WDM driver runs everything that isn't a DAW. Bottom line: Might work for Macs, but PC users beware. It might work for your DAW, but all other audio sources will be stone dead. Nice work, Tascam! Way to support your customers! Back up the dumptruck boys, put er in the landfill.  |
