Default SPIDF question

Recently I purchased an API a2d. I have a wavesmaxxbcl. I am wanting to be able to use the 4 channels of converters within these 2 units when recording into my daw. I use my maxxbcl via SPIDF to record. The Maxxbcl and api have AES, SPIDF and word clock in and out. My interface is an alesis io26 that has SPIDF but no AES or word clock connection. I have an adat hd that I use the convertors from and go into the io26 via optical. The ADAT hd has word clock out no SPIDF or AES.

So you have an interface with one digital input and you have two devices, each with a digital output.

Looks like only one at a time.

O.K. Always trying to get more. I'm not that familiar with SPIDF.

Thanks

ADAT can do something like your thinking of. I have an FX unit with ADAT I/O and you can plug another ADAT device into it and it will pass both units through 1 ADAT digital input (one stereo pair each). Good for some situations.

Yes they're putting S/Pdif outputs on everything but most interfaces have 1 input.

That was one thing I was looking at when I was shopping for a new interface.

Also it's a drag when a device only puts out 44.1k. I run at 48k and can't use the digital output on most things because I'd have to run at 44.1k to use it.

I'm in the same boat. I've had a S/PDIF Mytek AD96 collecting dust since I switched from 2 Delta 1010s to one Presonus Firestudio. I keep it around thinking I may switch my rig up eventually and be able to use it again.
