Default So I'm buying a new Mac

I'm buying a new iMac: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1 GB, 500GB hard drive and the standard stuff that comes on the iMac.

My question is: is Logic Express 8 the best program for a mac? If not what should I get my hands on?

I'm just a guitar player but I wanna record a solo album so I'd need a way to do drums as well. I dont know if I would need any other hardware also...I'm brand new to recording so I dont know what all it entails.

Thanks in advance for the advice tho folks!

The Imac is expensive and you are only part way there. If you want to record drums and have it sound good, you will want to get an audio interface that will record at least 8 track simultaniously. You will probably like Pro Tools better for recording with you IMAC. If you are using pro tools you will probably want to use digidesign hardware (audio interface). You will need several mics and stands and cords and lots of experimenting. Most of all, have fun!

No doubt about it, if I was on a Mac, I'd be using Cubase or Logic. You should talk with Logic users (maybe post a thread here Logic / Garageband - Home Recording Forum) and see what they say.

Of course, I don't have any plans of moving from PC / Cubase.

Take a look at this thread:

I'm a Mac user and over all I say Cubase!
