Default SE Electronic Microphones....

Does anyone here use or have tried any SE Electronics Microphones...

I bought an SE 2200a a little while back and for the money its been absolutely out standing...

Welcome to sE Electronics

I've been thinking about buying a matching pair for use with over heads on drum kits and was wondering if anyone here has thought or done the same or at least uses anything by SE?

I mean truly, for the money, I have only ever experienced good things from the company.

Thanks for your time

I have 3 SE-1's that I really like. Someone I knew was able to get them cheaply ($80 ea) and I went for it. These are very small condensers, with no frills, but the signal is very alive and full of tones that I'm not getting with my other mics. So with a little eq, they're great. I'm using them on acoustic instruments.

The SE3 are quite a bit better than the SE1, but I haven't tried their replacement the SE4 yet.

They are decent mics all around but I've never been impressed with the construction quality especially with the accessories.
Had a shockmount break for a 2200a, the stereo bar gets stuck and requires pliers to remove from a stand, and the handle broke off one of the hard cases.
These mics haven't even left the store! Just used for in store demos and in our studio.

Oh, I guess you've ben unlucky. I've been lucky and after using my mic and taking it all over the place with me, no damage has happened in anyway.

Never mind huh....Its not like it cost alot of money, and the sound is wicked for that price.

Hi also got a 2200, mostly been using it for vocals and have been very happy with the results. Interesting you mention using a pair for overheads. I actually got to this thread researching overhead mics. I've been looking at the akg c1000s or NT1's for oh but since I've already got one 2200... I'm just worried about the spl and if it won't damange them, any thoughts?

I used to have a z3300 that was a good mic but just not what I was looking for for my voice.

I bought a tube mic that's a copy of the SE z-5600, yes a copy of a copy.

Aurcle or something like that. $279, really like it. I was also looking at golden age mics, like to try them. I'm happy for now, lot's of good mics out there for a good price.

Try it ...

I did ages ago, and it was amazing for getting a very raw trashy sound for one of my tracks. Definitely pad it...

It all depends on what sound you're going for
