What I'm trying to do is record a beat from my Akai MPC 1000 to Cubase through my E-Mu 0404. I have a coaxial cable connected, with the coaxial setting selected on my E-Mu but I don't know where to start getting it ready to record. I had a quick look through the manual, but didn't really find anything I could understand. I was able to use an instrument cableand record from the stereo out into the direct in input on the E-mu and record, but I'd like to keep these slots free for a mic for guitar and a bass guitar direct in. Thanks in advance for the help. Last edited by JohnnyCosmo; 07-01-2009 at 05:53 PM. |

The mpc and emu have to be running at the same sample rate. Then you have to create a strip in patchmix that is for the S/Pdif input. Insert an ASIO send in it to go to cubase. In VSTconnections in cubase you have to create a input bus and set it to the sends you created in patchmix. That's how the signal gets to cubase. Then create an audio track and set its input to the bus you created. You should be able to record or monitor with the monitor button.

The master should dictate what sample rate the slave is set to. Brandon |

Ahh, not really and I haven't found the time to mess about with it properly this past few weeks. I think the list of things to do threw me off a bit too, but I will try to tackle it when I get chance. Cheers for the replies anyway. |

Like on my mo6 keyboard, it only puts out 44.1 so that's done, which is probably the default config of your akai. If patchmix is running at 44.1, which you can see, I think on the bottom right, then your also done. It should just be a matter of clicking the little star on the left and creating a new panel strip for the S/Pdif input and it should work. If you already have a strip then just add an ASIO send to it. Then start cubase and add a bus in VSTconnections(you can rename it) Set that bus to the ASIO send you added in patchmix. Then it (bus) will be available as a source on an audio track.
