Default which recording software can highlight sector with mouse then loop, chnge tempo,move..

by sector i mean a section of a track, but only the word sector would fit in the title...

So, i was all set to decide on Tracktion 3.

BUT

isn't Pro-tools easier to highlight a section of a track with the mouse, and do edits or move it around ?

The way I will be working is I do most of my sequencing on an mpc, I just need recording software to record my tracks, add vocals, then do minor edits, loop certain areas, move certain loops or samples around, then mixdown.

I would like to be able to quickly highlight sections of audio on a given track then do a myriad of things such as: loop, move to a different section of the track or another track, time stretch/pitch shift a highlighted section, split that section etc...

I don't know

anybody have any advice

I can't do this that easily with Tracktion can I ?

Is Pro-Tools, Logic or Cubase better for this ?

Du you Other software suggestions ?

Great forum,

THANKS !

-Jimmy

That's pretty basic stuff your talking about, I think they should all be able to do that in some fashion. Cubase has play order track but any can copy/paste sections of audio.

Ableton is supposed to be more geared for live so it should be able to do that kind of stuff on the fly.

Look on YouTube at cubase 5 loopmesh, that's some pretty cool stuff.

Try reaper, it's free, but you probably couldn't go wrong with any big package, they all have lots of features/functions.

I'm a cubase fan myself.

No Reaper can't: I work with Samplitude 10. It does it. So too do most DAWS.

Reaper has many shortcoming (IMO) inclduing a crazy routing system and an appalling midi parameter editor.
