OK Maybe the recent price hikes are not a gouge for the holiday season. But I am still not 100% sure of that factor. But when prices had different prices recently , and then all jump up to the same higher amount should we say that is random or perhaps some collusion going on. I am not sure that the jumps are not by companies actually owned by a higher level company. If so taht could explain it. Now maybe there is something like hanlon's law we could apply. It could be random chance. But do you truly believe that? Who would be your top 3 trusted sources to order from ?? |

"I am not sure that the jumps are not by companies actually owned by a higher level company. If so taht could explain it." This sounds like a conspiracy theory and a half! I'm gonna go out on a limb and blame the lizard-people that run the earth.... |

Hard to say, but to some extent you may be right. I remember about 3 to 4 months ago Fender significantly reduced prices on their guitars. All stores from the major GC to local mom and pop stores changed the prices on the same day, which tells me that Fender dictated the "price drop" day. A few months before that Fender significantly raised its prices on the amps; especially the Hot Rod series. Magically, all stores in my area jacked up the prices on the same. I bouth the DeVille 4x10 a couple of weeks before that. Saved at least $250. That's just Fender. I didn't notice any other vendor with a large fluctuation like Fender has had over 2009. Shure 58's have been going for the usual $99 in my local area (right now selling for $85 the last time I checked).

actually, I think parts are more expensive right now. When the economy slowed, parts manufactureres started laying people off because they weren't getting as many orders. Now that it's starting to pick up, they can't keep up with the demand. What used to take 10 days to order now takes months.
