Smile Microphone problem - kindly help me

hai guys,

i am new here
i am from chennai, india, learning keyboard for the past 3 years

i am having a small home project studio with a pc , a daw (reaper), yamaha psr and a set of speakers

last week i purchased a SHURE mic, previously i used a chat mic (which the out put audio is full of Hisss). the new shure mic is good, but the out put audio is half reduced, poor and no strength .

a friend of mine adviced me to get a interface, another friend adviced me to get a mixure or sound cord

in my place (Chennai , india) the interface costs about 35000 indian bucks, sound cord 10000 indian bucks, and the mixures proton bx 8p about 9000 indian bucks and yamaha 82cx about 12500 indian bucks.

(higher and costlier mixing boards available but i donot have huge bucks to spend and to have a trial)

i am very much confussed to buy which one?

kindly advice me if i buy a mixure could it possible for me to have a good , strong, and hiss less out put.

is there any other option kindly suggest.,
(if the only remedy is the interface , then i have to )

kindly advice
awaiting

You need a preamp (to make the signal louder)

Behringer do a real cheapie (about 40 quid/44 Euros) with a built in limiter for home/project studios
BEHRINGER MIC100 TUBE ULTRAGAIN - U.K. International Cyberstore

Behringer MIC100 vacuum tube preamplifier with limiter, 20dB pad, phase reverse switch, 48V phantom power, gain & output volume controls, jack/XLR in/out. Includes power supply.

The MC200 (next model up in the range) costs a tenner more but has multiple pre-amp "voicings" (tone settings that enhance different characteristics of the sound)

HTH

Peace

It's true you don;t need an interface, but you do need a preamp like this Behringer. This and the brand ART, sell some of the cheapest preamps out there. Depending on your computer, you will probably need an adapter to plug the preamp output (which is 1/4" plug) to your computer (which is probably 1/8" heaphone type). Those don;t cost too much but take a look at the pugs to see which one you need. Actually if you plugged the SM57 directly to the computer, you probably are familiar with that.

you do not need a mixer

you do need a preamp

do not get an internal sound card

if you can afford it
in the long run
you will do well to have an interface with 2-4 inputs for mikes and line level.

if price is a major issue get a small preamp and use the pc soundcard (not ideal but "works" until you can afford an external interface (which also acts as a better sound card too)

Well, I assume you just have the sound card that came with the computer. That's what you plug the MIC into, currently. Double check the control panel/ sound dialog for recording devices to see if there is a boost level check box for microphone. Many sound card drivers know that you need to boost mic level and provide for it.

To boost level, you just need something with a volume knob that has some gain circuit. With new stuff, just the MIC preamp might be the cheapest. But a USB soundcard with more features may not be much more expensive.

There many be something like a old Tape Recorder in you city that has a preamp section, but they may be noisy.

It's possible the MIC is not working properly. Focus on noise.

I use the Behringer MIC200 preamp between my CAD GXL3000 microphone and my computer. Works very well and wasn't expensive.
