Mic For Vocals

hello brandon,

just signed up there but somehow made a balls...

i've startded recording audio guitar files thru cubase using a v amp..i now want to start recording vocals..what type of mic do ineed...do i plug into the vamp or directly into the soundcard...can i get a mic that is good for both vocals and recording a standard acoustic guitar that isnt mental money?

Hello JW,

The way I understand it, the Vamp is just a guitar amp that plugs into the computer. It doesn't appear to be a full blown audio interface. You may want to check out this:

As for mics that work for both acoustic guitar and vocals there are many out there. Yesterday I did a session and ended up with my AT4050 on acoustic guitar and later on, on vocals. It worked great. You can snag them used on Ebay for $300 all the time. They are my best bang for the buck microphone. New they cost quite a bit more.

I used a $40 Behringer large diaphram condenser and I have to say that it wasn't bad at all. I almost bought it.
