Re: M-Audio Delta 1010 Reviews
Quality: 9
The quality of the unit is top notch. The sound quality is great. Back in my early days of recording, I tended to blame my gear for my lack of skill. I dumped $2,400 on Mytek converters. (4 channels in, 2 channels out). The difference in sound quality was subtle. It was there, but it wasn't anything like I had expected. I'd say it was a 1-2% improvement. No client has ever noticed when I switched between the two. So I think the converters in the Delta 1010 are great for anyone in home recording land. When you get to a stage where an extra 1% is worth $2k to you, knock yourself out and upgrade.
Reliability: 9
I purchased a pair of M-Audio Delta 1010 audio interfaces back in 2001. I can't recall having any major issues. Over the years they incrementally improved the drivers. Sometimes I had better luck with the older drivers, but this was rarely an issue.
At the end of 2007 I had some major computer problems where I misdiagnosed a problem thinking that one of the Delta 1010s had died. It turned out that something super strange was going on in my recording computer that even formatting wouldn't fix. Eventually, I worked this issue out but by that time I had already purchased a Presonus Firestudio.
Overall Rating: 9
The Delta 1010 is an excellent audio interface for anyone who doesn't require preamps, portability, etc. You can read Departing With M-Audio Delta 1010 Audio Interfaces for details about the modern features the Delta 1010 does not have. With that said, I've been extremely pleased with the Delta 1010s. Even though I do not use them anymore, I consider them to be great!

That should work, but if you burned up your audio interface then obviously you may have bigger problems.

Re: M-Audio Delta 1010 Reviews
I'm running XP64 using the M-Audio XP64 (BETA) drivers for my 1010 LT card and can't get the system to recognize the card. It did manage to shut down my internet connectivity unitl I swapped PCI slots with my Wireless Card. Now I have my itnernet back again, but still no luck using the 1010 LT. I may have to rebuild my old XP 32 PC and try that to see if the card works on that.
Lots of negativity in the M-Audio discussion forums regarding their claimed XP64 compatibilty (it's on the box!) but they didnt' even have a driver till last December.
Just a warning to anyone running XP64 to be careful about selecting this product.
If anyone has any suggestions for me, that would be welcome too.
UPDATE: Gave up on XP64 and installed Windows 7 Release Candidate. Card installed and runs fine with the Vista64 drivers. One possible glitch though: After installing the card and drivers my machine now hangs when shutting down and eventually has to be shut down manually. MS says it's a driver issues so I assume it has something to do with the Vista64 driver for this card. Not worrying about it at the moment as I'll have to reinstall and rebuild the computer when I go to the official release version of Win 7. I'm also hoping there will soon be a Windows 7 driver issued.

Re: M-Audio Delta 1010 Reviews
I recently installed the Delta 1010 into my Vista x64 professional machine. This machine is also a video editing machine and is based on a quad core with 8 gig of ram and 2 terabytes of very fast disks. The Vista 64 drivers from the M-Audio web site worked perfectly and so far I have no issues.
All I can say is fantastic, the latency is all but non-existent and the sound is crisp and clear. At the moment I am recording at 48000/24 which I need for DVD work.
The only remaining issue I have is figuring out if I can use the SPDIF connector to drive a home theater system for 5.1 encoded content.

S/PDIF only sends 2 channels. You'd need ADAT lightpipe for that.

Re: M-Audio Delta 1010 Reviews
I have been using the Delta 1010 PCI-e for several years now. Had no problems with it and is a sturdy bit of ki., My only problem with it now is that I switched over to a Hackintosh based system to use Logic 9 and the Delta 1010 is not recognised or supported by the later OSX (Leopard, SnowLeopard etc) operating systems.
So seems I will have to change my system around to suit more recent software.
Another thing about the 1010 is the lack of Preamps.
At the time I bought it, I was content using my Soundcraft desk preamps but I'm now of the opinion that the less connections and transfers the better and having a card with preamps on it would eliminate some hassle.
