    Default M-Audio BX8A/BX10

I actually like the sound of this combo. Accurate? Well, not really, but they're good for a low budget system. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be very reliable. I disconnected the BX10 after it made one of the BX8's hiss like crazy - at first it was an intermittent problem... then it became all the time. One of the BX8's has a bit of an issue with reliability on the tweeter - it'll cut out and need unplugging from power and leaving for a few minutes to get it back. Now the other has gone out completely - I turn on, the woofer sticks out a ways, gives me this low continuous rumble and nothing else. I think something must be shorted out inside.

I do think in terms of sound, these are good for their price range, but clearly, the reliability makes them unusable. Guess its time to save up for a pair of real monitors.

They're big, bulky and heavy. It's not worth sending these things in for repair out of warranty. Might as well chuck them in the garbage. The BX8's are about 18 months old, the BX10 about 14 months old.

Hmm... not good. Thanks for sharing that Richiebee.

Durability is enshrined in UK consumer law (I know you're across the pond now) and 14 months is effin dreadful. You don't think a word with them may help? (M-Audio I mean, not facing off your monitors and saying "Now look here you..." )

I've got some bx8as, picked them up on ebay for less than $100 because one of them wasn't working. Got a new PCB from M-Audio (really cheap), I have well under $200 in them. They work for me, not the best, but for what I've got in them they do the job. I like them better than the Alesis monitors I had before.
