Default Logic or Pro tools?

I am wondering which is better... pro + cons of each?

The general consensus is that the MIDI in Pro Tools leaves much to be desired. Logic appears to be very strong in both MIDI and Audio. From what I hear it's in a similar league as Cubase (which is what I use).

Pro Tools is typically chosen by people who work in a lot of different studios. The number one reason Pro Tools is popular is because Pro Tools is popular.

If I was on a Mac, I'd go with Logic myself.

Check the new Protools 8 :
Digidesign | Products | Pro Tools | Pro Tools 8 | Get Ready for Pro Tools 8

New Midi and Notation features plus a ton of cool stuff.

I agree every studio uses protools of some sort now. It would be fun to be able to afford to use both. I may venture down the logic road someday at home to see how it is. I like what iv'e read about it. Tons of virtual instruments and all that jazz. I would say if you plan on recording in one spot and dont plan on jumping from studio to studio Logic may be the best answer today. Protools 8 may be the way to go when that arrives. I like this question a lot may buy it to see what its all about...

Every studio? I don't use Pro Tools.

Alright. Fair enough.

I personally don't look at this whole hired recording thing as hiring a building. I look at it as hiring a dude/chick who has a better idea of achieving your vision than you do. In those cases, Mr. Engineer does his thing with the tools (and building) he prefers for your budget.

If you happen to be Mr. Engineer, then it really comes down to whether the need for super easy Pro Tools integration is a factor. Thus far, the issue has came up once in my life. We solved it in about 15 second.
