Post Line6 TonePort or M-Audio Fast Track?

Hi Guys, this is my first post so I'm looking forward to the responses. Basically, I have Logic Express 8 and I want to record drums to it via audio interface. I have 2 in mind: Line 6 TonePort UX8 and the M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R. I am led to believe that when plugged via USB into my mac, they will show up as 8 separate tracks in Logic for me to EQ? Can that be confirmed. I also understand that the Line 6 is mainly for guitar but I was just wondering if any of you had any advice for me and tips.
Thanks
Ollie

Yes these 2 interfaces with give you 8 separate tracks to Cubase, or other DAW's. If you already have a little experience with DAW's and plug-ins and such, you may want to think about spending a little extra for a firewire interface. There have been debates on this site often that Firewire is slight faster than USB 2.0. Meaning when recording overdubs, you won;t have a latency problem as bad.

thing is, i dont have a firewire connection on my mac, which is so stupid, i know, but it leaves me with USB 2.0 so... and i dont really have that much experience so when you say overdubs what do you mean?

When recording drums, if you do an awesome take but you notice a tom roll was slow, or missed a crash cymbal, you can back the track to before that point, play it back and punch in from a point before the error and punch out after, and cross-fade it to make it sounds natural, without having to redo the entire song again.

USB and Firewire will probably limit you to 8 preamps. The Presonus Firestudio Tube has 10 preamps plus, if you have external preamps or a mixing board with preamps, you can add 6 more for a total of 16 track recording.
