| I have been interested in home recording so recently I have purchased a Tascam US-144 audio interface. It came bundled with Cubase LE4. I am still in the process of learning the new software but there is one problem I have not figured out yet. There is a crackling noise that can be heard any time there is an external sound coming in to cubase(such as me singing). Now, I've taken tutorials and learned a lot and I've messed with the buffer settings for hours upon end. It doesn't matter if the buffer is set to 100 samples or 10,000, the crackling noise is the same. It doesn't get better or worse depending on buffer size(or anything else that I've found). I do not have an after market sound card. I have been using the ASIO directX duplex(which I guess is in the tascam) and I also downloaded ASIO4ALL to see if that would make a difference, and it hasn't. I have downloaded trial versions of Ableton Live, Reaper, and FL Studio and the result is the same. If anyone has any advice or input on how to eliminate this crackling noise I would greatly appreciate it because it is driving me crazy!!!!!!!! Thank you |

Right-click on My Computer and choose 'Manage'. Look for device manager on the left hand side, and locate Sound, game, etc. on the right side. Find your onboard sound and right click on it and choose Disable. Quote:

Hey guys, thanks for replies! I disabled the onboard sound and so my tascam driver showed up and I was able to select it. I can record now with no crackling noises! ![]() I was able to mess with it for a little while tonight and was listening through my headphones and I noticed the sound was only coming from one side of my headphones. Any idea how to make it to through both? And also, since I disabled my onboard sound, I guess I need to get some speakers that hook up to my tascam if I want to hear sound outside of headphones, right? My tascam does hook up through USB and before I was using the onboard computer sound to hear my mixes but I can only hear through my headphone(s) at the moment. Thank you! |
