Question Has someone here tried the Samson VR88?

I have been given this mike for testing and I wondered if any of you has already had some good or bad experiences with it.

Thanks ppl.

I've never heard of it. It's weird looking.

I've seen it, but I haven't tried it out. It's apparently a ribbon mic that they released a little while back. It does look weird, heh?

I would actually like to know how it sounds when you've tested it, just out of curiosity. I've actually had some pretty good experiences with a couple of Samson mics.

Didn't have time to try it out today...
But I'll definitely tell you how the testing came out.
All I've read is good things but we'll see...

Later.......

I've been interested in this mic so I'm curious how it works out. I was gunna try it out on the center of the cone in a guitar amp, like i've seen people do with Royers. If you could try that too, it would be swell

thankies

Well....
I've tried the Samson VR88 on my tenor sax and I'm very happy with it so far.
I need to record different instruments and see how it performs.
Here is a song I'm mixing now with the tenor sax recorded with it!
Gonna keep the mike I think !

Dou you like how it sounds?

Also....

I used the CL2 - Samson Pencil Condenser Microphone on the flutes..

and on the voice and congas the Neumann U87 40th Anniversary model...

Using this Art preamp :

A little Eq with the :

and going into the Digi 003 Rack:

using Protools LE 7.4

It sounds great to me! I'm not an expert in saxaphone land. I've only recorded a few of them, but what you've done here works.
