Was going to Tokyo to look at computers today, but... stopped at an African bar and got rather sidetracked. NOTE: To all those people who told me that the black guy will rock your world, either you're full o' shit or I got gypped. Hmph! ![]() But anyhow, maybe my failure computer-shopping trip was no biggie--for it looks like my friend smoking pig has opened up a whole new can o' worms. Quote:
If I were to use one of these thingies, would the rest of my needed setup be pretty much the same, or would there be any +s or -s? Yeah I realize I should know this from having recorded with a band who used one previously but um, yeah I have this thing with paying attention.^-^; <---(You guys have really gotta get a proper embarrassed smiley around here... That way I don't have to use this weird-ass Japanese one.)

chances are that you will want to play around on a computer, also - cleaning things up, adding talent, etc.. The sweetwater page had a not shipping yet zr16 (?) that looked interesting. So, maybe a stand-alone recorder/mixer that doubles as a computer sound card/interface is a choice. I think the lesson is that you don't need lots of computing power to record. You need lots of computing power to run the over-blown modern DAW like Cubase and Sonar and a bevy plug-ins. The older version of Magix Studio Deluxe v12 I got off eBay for $20 only requires Vista 32 and under, 700MHz processor, and 512 RAM. I can do quite a bit on the $500 Toshiba with a 1.8MHz Mobile and 3Gb RAM stock config. Frankly, I urge you to look at the DAW downloadable Reaper v3. It is pretty slick. I recorded a hour and 20 minutes of audio and MIDI as a test and it all aligned perfectly with no set-up. I may end-up buying it, but I'm more interested in MIDI and am used to Magix products. Booze is good - one has to choose their vices carefully.

Lemme tell ya a secret: Sex jokes are FUNNY (well...to me anyway), but if you think my jokes are an accurate measure of my real sex life (considering I like GIRLS), that's even funnier. Fuck. (this= both drummer and bar guy were meant to be HUMOR, Mr. Grouchy-pants, but damn, guess it's not your style.)*Edit* Thought I'd throw in some color and smileys while Reaper downloads... seeing as you like them so much. LOL. Poo-head.Kitty Hime signing out~

I picked up a lotta good info here and there but overall from what I've checked out your info was the most useful in my setup-picking process. I'm downloading that Reaper right now and have my other tools on order, so--many thanks. Here's to you, my good sir. ![]() *** More fun is just choosing them all.
