Well, I was hoping you would come back with news that your gear had arrived : ) Were you able to order local ?

As far is * * * *, at least the sysop is taking a stand on important things.

*NOTE* OMG!!! Your system bleeps out the word w a r m, but not fuck!? I try to say heart-w a r m ing, and am rewarded with fucking asterixes!? Holy shit, I've never seen anything so rediculous in all my life! LOL! Who the hell is responsible for this!?
Law #1 - W A R M is BANNED!

It is a bit ridiculous. I'm having some fun. The system wasn't mean to censor **** in this context. That's a casualty I'm willing to live with.

This is my first post and, probably, my last. I just bought my first mixer, Audiogram 6 by Yahama, and want to make stereo recordings with two microphones and an accoustic guitar. I was pleased to find out that the mixer came with software, Cubase. Well, it turns out that this will be more difficult that I thought. I thought Photoshop was difficult and had a steep learning curve. The difference between Photoshop and Cubase is, Photoshop has help files that are clear and to the point; Cubase does not. It has a manual that was written by a sadist to keep you ignorant. Also, the manual does something incredible. It assumes you wrote it yourself and personally invented all the acronyms! Why would anyone need a glossary of terms?
I have read the responses to newbies who dared to ask questions on forums. The responses are generally along the lines of "You are an ignorant bafoon--read the manual." This brings back memories of when I was a young guy wanting to learn a guitar riff. I asked a fellow if he would show me a particular thing and his answer was this, "Why would I teach you something that took me years to learn?". I never asked again. This attitude of "I'm better you, I went to Cubse School for the Gifted" is juvenile, at best. Yes, I will, eventually, learn to save a wav file and play it back but I won't learn it from asking questions on forums filled with people who just want to show how stupid you are and how smart they have become.
Over and out.

But what's your question? It sounds like you have a legitimate where the folks over in the Cubase threads can help you.

I've found this forum to be rather friendly...yes, obnoxious at times....to noobs from my first day on here.

As I always say: "There are no dumb questions; just dumb answers!"

There are questions that the best answer to is "It's in the manual, go have a read".

Export/Audio Mixdown/"The Left and Right locators must be set"
I'll have breakfast before getting the courage to jump back into the manual. After having spent last evening going through Device Setup, setting up busses, drivers, etc., finally getting a sample recording to play through my earphones monitor--and not being able to repeat this task until hours later, I want to at least save one wav file or mp3. I can do the conversion from wave to mp3, if Cubase can't. A simple "save as" turns out to be not so simple. I did a Google search for a solution to this. I got numerous results, from way back in 2005 to the present, of a lot of people calling each other stupid. I wanted to express my displeasure with this practice and picked this forum at random to make a statement. With this amount of ridicule, I figured that it must be that Cubase is just poorly written. I am sure there are fine applications within the program but, for now, I am beginning to think "user friendly" isn't a phrase usually associated with Cubase. Am I wrong? As difficult as Photoshop was to master, it was, none the less, fun, rewarding, and child's play, in comparison. The troubleshooting guides I have seen for Cubase, so far, have been worthless to me.

Keep doing what you're doing. Keep the book open as you do your hands-on experiments. Don't be afraid to screw things up. It's the only way you'll learn. I've been a victim of my own failed smoke tests myself....still do.

Also check out the Cubase Forum (not on here, but the actual Cubase Forum). It'll also have veteran Cubase experts to help you out.

After using Sonar/Cakewalk for 15 years I still have to go to the Cakewalk forum and ask questions.

There are a lot of forums, one in particular comes to mind, that is all about shaming newbies. This forum is not like that. Go on over to the cubase section of this forum and ask your question, where you're posting now is a crazy thread and your question will get lost here.

I second that! And if we were a physical forum the beer would be cold!

TonyB and boo--
Thank You. I'm having an attitude adjustment, thanks to you guys! I'm going to work hard with the manual and the forums you mentioned. Maybe one day, I'll be able to help someone else. I'm going to get this. Anything worthwhile sometimes takes a little work. I learned this long ago. I just let my own personal frustration get the best of me. I knew better but it took some maturity from you folks to remind me. It's amazing what an encouraging word or two will do. I'm going to read everything I can, as long as it won't clutter up my workspace too much.
Many thanks, again.
