Sorry, didn't know there was such a forum, as this was my first post and I've only been a member for about a week now. So, next time I'll sure put my posts where they belong, but can you please for now just quickly help me out?

Sorry marjo,

It has less to do with topic than the fact that those folks with the real answers to your problem probably aren't watching this thread. It doesn't sound like a software prob., you have downloaded proven software, and you have plenty of power. We're just trying to send you where you are more likely to get the help you need. Kyle put a link in his post that will send you right there.

Computer recording might be the most frustrating, and rewarding things you do...2nd to golf maybe... but the answers are here, just gotta ask the right people.

Good luck!
Chuck

Here is a massive list (25 programs) that I stumbled upon one day:

Audio Editors - freeware downloads

Not all meant for recording, but they're all free...

Hi Brandon,
Just signed up tonight because I need a bit of a hand. I am completely a novice at recording anything live but I would like to start recording my bands sessions so that we can tighten up a bit and maybe make a bit of a demo of good quality. I have a solid laptop running on Vista and I am wondring what you would recommend I start off with. We are playing in a studio with all the gear and there are two guitars, bass, drums and singer Your experienced opinion would be much valued here.

Thanks,

Nick

Hey Nick.

For better results and answers / responses to your post, I'd suggest creating your own thread. Very few people will accidently stumble on your post here.

Audacity is great for ripping audio from other sources or maybe basic editing. I love it and use it all the time. But you can't properly mix with it. You can but its a hassle.
