A lot of people tire easily of giving info that is readily available in the manuals. Is there a specific question?

Sounds like he wants someone to read him a bed-time story.

"Once upon a time, there was a young man who wanted an electronic drum kit... "

Once upon a time there was this girl named Alice. She owned an electronic drumkit, a yamaha usb mixing desk, Cubase LE and a shitty computer. Alice wanted to record her drumkit but wasn't sure how. Upon doing some research, she found out that what she needed was an audio interface to connect her drumkit to her pc. Reading the manual of her yamaha mixer, she discovered that it also doubled as an interface which connected to her computer via usb. She also discovered that an audio interface is sometimes also referred to as a soundcard but that the term soundcard was actually used to describe that shitty device which comes with most shitty computers. After some more reading, Alice learned that in order to be able to record her drumkit she would have to check if the drumkit had either a MIDI port or a stereo port. This would determine the method she would use for recording.
Stay tuned for the next chapter in which the question 'what type outputs does Alice's drumkit have?' gets answered.

For the kind of leads you'll want, I'd recommend copper wiring with some sort of rubberized jacket. Then you'll want to make sure the plugs fit into the jacks that you want the signal to flow from or to.
