Default console mixer??

i was told by my friend that i should get console mixer such as mackie for recording, he said it add w.a.r.m.ness to the mix. well actually he got that advice from a pro where he get his album mix. but after i read KHR- "setting up".. brandon think its better without.

i just wanna know whether the "w.a.r.m"ness thingy is true.

yus

I have one and it is a little bit true but not worth the cash in my opinion. I would rather have one good mic pre then a mackie mixer.

Btw W.A.R.M is a bad way to describe the effect. Proportionate and clear is a better description.

Yes, what Paul said.

It'll give you a different flavor, much like Paul described, but unless you're in a major studio spitting out hit songs, you'd just be at the point of diminishing returns in a home or project studio

In other words, you'll notice some difference.

However, you may notice a significant difference with a studio full of seasoned, professional musicians, Neumann U-87s, API 3124, etc feeding your console).

My stock advice is if you have to ask "Do I need a mixer?", you don't need one.

Ditto on "not w@rm". Something like well-defined and distinct.

That, my friend, is a never-ending battle that we all struggle with! My shopping list never gets any smaller and I almost always wonder if I'm making the right purchase.
