Default connect computer/ipod to behringer monitor

Sorry if this isn't completely on topic for this forum and for my lack of audio knowledge.

My buddy gave me a pair of behringer truth b2031a active moniters BEHRINGER: B2031A
because he's moving and is a generous guy.

I don't want to use these as studio monitors, I just want to use them as powered speakers to play music from my computer (primarily with itunes) and from my ipod. My question is, what do I need to hook them up to my computer and ipod? Can I go straight from the headphone jacks to the speakers, or will that not work? The Behringer website says the inputs for the speakers are Servo-balanced inputs with XLR and ¼” TRS connectors. Do I need an audio interface? If I do, any suggestions for which one to get? Basically, I don't need to be able to record or do anything besides listen to prerecorded music. I'm just looking for good sound quality in the simplest and least expensive way possible, and I don't know what cables and stuff I need to get to do that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Nate

Default Re: connect computer/ipod to behringer monitor

I would check the web site for a downloadable PDF users manual, but generally there are left and right input jacks to accept a line level source.

The standard sound card cable with a mini 3.5 stereo plug on one end,and two RCA jacks on the other (Y-cable) can usually be adapted with two RCA to 1/4 phone plug adapters.

I can take a pic and post what I think you may need, if that helps.
