After seeing overall positive reviews of the UCA202 elsewhere on the web, I decided to try out this little gizmo, to replace recording on my internal Realtek AC97 soundcard. After spending a few frustrating minutes trying to figure out the best way to use this with my Behringer 802 Xenyx mixer, I finally got it configured & dialed in correctly and did a couple of demo recordings of multi-tracking of guitars, drums & bass. I was not disappointed! I can definitely tell a difference in the sound quality of this over my internal soundcard...I did some recording over the weekend, played it back a little later in the day and went, "whoa! Did I do that?!" So, I'm pretty happy with this little dealie - for only 30 bucks, it does a dang fine job. Glad I didn't listen to the arrogant guy at Sam Ash who pretty much bad-mouthed this unit and tried to sell me a $150.00 Lexicon. This little Behringer does the trick just fine.

    Thanks for the review.

For $30 you were able to interface your mixer and get great results.
Hell, I can easily piss that away at the pub on a Friday night.

There's a lot of Behringer bashing on the web, but they allow people who don't want to spend a lot of money to start recording their music.

Couple questions about this Behringer UCA-202.
We have been recording old school on soundboards and mixers and then burning them to a CD. then we have to transfer them to the computer from the CD. We purchased this product to get music directly to the computer without having to burn it to a CD first. We have plugged it up and it is recognized, but there is no sound coming from the computer. how do we record the music that is being sent to the computer via the Behringer UCA-202? What programs if any do we need? Thank you.

If you have to do "field recording", it's a good system to carry around, hooked to a portable. Similar to the original MBox. I still use the MBox for field recording because of the Phantom power that my mics need, but for rehearsal and non in-house recordings can be a good deal.

Im really new to this whole studio thing and I just started research about building a home studio. My band and I plan on picking up a 20 channel powered mixer. If I were to run the mixer with 7 mics (a drumset) plugged into it into this interface and record into whatever software will each mic have its own track or will all 7 mics be one track?

You'll get a 2 channel mixdown. In order to record more tracks, you'll need an interface with 8 input channels. The Behringer have two.

the guys who wrote (are writing) audacity recommend this to everybody who complains that audacity doesnt work when they plug something into the mike input of the onboard soundcard. they really like it. certainly beats the $100 range no-name interfaces (search amazon and consumer magazine ads) that come with software to copy your tapes and LPs.
