It looks a beast. I've got a sapphire pro 26 which has now been superseded by the sapphire pro 40. I like mine a lot. It sounds excellent and i record at 24bit 96khz. I haven't tried the plugins.

I'm thinking about writing focusrite to ask about how the 40 compares with the 56. I have a good preamp so if the converters are the same I might just go with the 40.

The routing software looks to be about the same, and looks good. The volume control and dim/mute switches for monitor would be really handy for me.

I think one of the main differences is with the 56 you get 2 liquid channels. They are the
things that emulate virtually every top end pre-amp/compressor etc.
Quite desirable but strictly speaking not essential for a project studio.
Depends what you are aiming for. Personally, I'd love to play around with the liquid
channel stuff and see what they are like. I like focusrite stuff though I've got the
sapphire pro 26 and also a voicemaster pro. Their stuff just oozes quality.
