    Default Alesis iO4 opinions?

    Hi,

Does anyone have an Alesis iO4? The basic features seem to fit my needs, but are there any problems with it or issues I might not have considered?

In the past I've done all my recording in stereo, through a small mixer. I'd like to have the ability to record 4 track though, and my new PC only has a low end "on board" sound, so I need something.

In addition to recording live sound, I have a lot of MD recordings I want to transfer to the PC from a portable, using headphone out to line in.

I haven't heard much talk about the Alesis io4. That means one of two things. Few people are using it or lots of people are using it but just aren't having problems with it. I wish I could be of more help.

I am usually a pretty positive guy if it is possible. I can tell you that alesis went from being one of my favorite companies to one of my most avoided. There has been problem after problem with so much of their gear, especially interfaces. Compatibility seems to be the biggest issue. I had an io26 and it was a brutal experience. The master control was a disaster for them. Alesis tend to make a ton of options, if only the damn things would work!

On the other side of the coin I have no direct experience with this particular product.
