Default 30gb of samples now what do i do!

alright guys ive just recieved 30gb of samples, kits, stabs, licks etc etc etc etc, now i got them with the intention to use them with fruity loops 9, but i was wondering, how can i get the most bang for my buck with these samples? can i trigger these samples with a midi controller of some sort? can i link these samples up thru midi and route them into my emu px7 workstation? there working fine now but i just want to be able to use a seperate controller instead of the piano roll in fl9,and im looking to have more flexibility with the actual note ranges. any thoughts or suggestions is greatly appreiciated.

they are mainly set up as wav, but theres some set up as aif? which i cant use for some reason(this is the asr 10 kit) basically this guy has a studio and he samples all of his keyboards so i have every patch from all the main keyboards, korg extreem, roland phantom etc etc, also theres patches from other various kits, guitar samples etc. i bought it on ebay, i couldnt pass it up 18 bucks! my problem is that since he sampled the patches in he has the notes held down for 4 counts so when i try to make a melody with them the notes draw over each other, ive used a fade out for this but i know there has to be a better way to get maximum usage out of the sounds.

A bunch of samples is a hassle, unless you want to spend the rest of your life organizing them.

I want them put into instruments, soundsets with velocity layers, so I just load a piano (or whatever) and play. That's what takes time, creating a multisample voice.

Even drums need to be put into kits.

I guess some samples are better than no samples but they need to be usable.

im sorry i must not have explained it well, the samples are organized by kit, by keyboard,by instrument, loops are set by bpm etc etc. the dude really put time into doing this, all sounds are multisampled, with different velocity layers also. there not just samples.

There's the main problem.

But serious answer: you are using the wrong software to play these. FL is a loop player, not a sampler. If you were to use Cubase with MIDI writing and either Kontact or something along that lines, you would be able to organize the samples, use a real keyboard to write your parts, and the program auto fades out and changes velocity if your samples have multi-velocities.

I would forget about them. Apart from the fact that they'd most likely be illegal to use since patches are copyrighted. You can't just resample and resell them. You could synthetically recreate them, but not just resample them.

But more to the point, you need to create your own patches. Oh my. I can't even being to tell you how much work that is.

I see guys sampling stuff on ebay a lot.

If you own a synth you have a right to use the sound it makes...?

So if I take my Mo6 and EmulatorX which can make a multisample voice up from the machine it would be legal to sell the soundset/voices I created, I would think but not sure. I'm not selling the patch just the sound it makes.
Samples are not as good as having the real synth as the OP is finding out with the length of samples etc.

They must be in a pretty grey area because ebay would throw them off if it was clearly illegal.

You never did say what format they are in.

It would be a folder with a bunch of wav files then there should be a file like .sf2, .gig, .nki, .fxp, etc.

From that you can tell what sampler it's made to be played on.

He said they were in wav and aif.

But the argument about legal to sell them, it's clearly not. You can record a song using a keyboard you bought and sell it, but recording single notes to be used as samples is not the same. Look at it this way, your intentions are to gain profit, which will result in a loss of sale from the company that made that keyboard. You can twist it any which way, but they will have better lawers, and you won't win.

Edub357, trash the samples and look for a keyboard or sampler that fits your budget. warning: will be more than $18
