Hi, I'm working on wiring up my new work studio and I have a question. My old studio was a single room the new one is a control room and a studio. I need to set up some xlr wall plates so I can plug the mics into the mixer without running a mile of cable. So i'm building a plate for each side of the wall with 4 female xlr connectors. It sounds easy enough and I have built 1/4" headphone jack plates before but with the xlr's I want to double check that I should wire pin 1 = ground (shield) pin 2 = hot pin 3 = cold so basically it wired shield to pin one on both sides then pin 2 to pin 2 pin 3 to pin 3? I want to make sure because the last time I did this I didn't have to worry about phantom power this time I do. Thanks for your help |

if you have equipment that is wired pin 3 hot and other equipment that is wired pin 2 hot, the resulting wave form will be out of phase. the XLR or other 3 wire connector does need to be wired correctly, but i could put the colored (hot) wire on pin 3 and the clear (cold) wire on pin 2, it would be in phase.
