Smile Recording on a Yamaha AW16G

Ive recently bought a yamaha AW16G, and am over the moon with its performance and features, however I need technical assistance !!!. Having spent the last two days working out how to use the rather complicated user interface, I need to know what is the safe way to connect several guitar inputs at once, as the unit only has one high impedance (Hi-z) input. I know electric guitars/bass guitars connected directly to the unit should be only done one the hi-z input.
So what I need to know is can sevral guitars be recorded simultaniously ?

And if so via what?? Pedals??, Effects, Pre amp outs???

Answers/replys greatly appreciated.

I used to have a couple of these for location recording through the studio i run. You can put your guitars/pedals/effects/basses/keyboards etc. in any of the 8 inputs. The HI-Z input will work better (hotter) with guitar but you don't have to use it.

You can record all of any of a possible 8 inputs all at the same time if you wish.

If you have a DI box or external mic preamp with a Hi-Z or instrument input you can connect those to the other inputs.

The Hi-z input on the 16G is basically a DI.

A pedal might work too, even bypassed. I'm not 100% sure.
I have an AW1600 here that I gave up on.

Any input/channel will do. Just get the sound right and get the input gain right and you should have no trouble. Be careful (as always!) of noisy gear or cables.
Once you have recorded the track, you may need to tweak some more--you have the onboard effects to help you out here (pan, high, mid, low, dynamics).

Probably stating the obvious. Sorry.

(The G is a good machine.)

Thanks
Chris
