I just received my BR-600 and overall it seems like it will work out very well. However, is there a secret to quieting down the internal mics? They do a good job, nice clear crisp recording of my acoustic guitar and voice, but the recording had a lot of white background noise. Jack

Look in the manual in the effects section to find the specific effect that reduces white noise (can't remember the name) and program all the effects you use regularly to include that parameter. For using only the internal mic try turning the plug in inputs all the way down, and the big knob input up all the way (just below fuzz point). Seemed to help a little bit. . .

Another thing to keep in mind is where you record, as it has a big (if only slightly obvious) effect on how much background noise you have. I work in a high school and have had chances to record my groups in the auditorium with my Zoom H2. Through poor planning, all of the schools HVAC is situated directly over centerstage, so when it's running there are horrendously loud machinery noises going on, of which nothing can be done. The end result is a recording done in there with the HVAC on has a continuous low-frequency rumble, and also tends to pick up the air duct noise and associated leakage. If that's similar to the white noise you are speaking of, consider shutting down air conditioners, fans, furnaces, etc. in order to quiet down your recording area. That's the reason engineers spend so much time and money on acoustically treating their studios; to reduce reflections in order to get the loudest, purest sound possible.
