Tom Lang is on a distinguished road
Default HD 16 Mic recording issue

Just got an email back from Brandon and he suggests we get this on paper to get it worked on. I have both the hd 16 and the older CD 16 with the same issue. I have three or four mid level but good mics and all are the same so I am discounting machine issue.

I can not get decent mic recording sound esp. from the HD 16. No matter how I play with the controls I usually end up with a screechy type high end. I have tried every different mic setting as well as used dual mics and it takes way too long to get a song done that passes. I am really disappointed with the HD 16 but I am hoping it is my fault and it can be easily fixed.

I do all oldies rock ( because I am old) and many of those songs require a clear sound. Many of the takes come out sounding worse that the old 45 RPMs. (you do remember them I hope..some of you anyway)

Any suggestions will be appreciated. I am getting desperate with this one as I spent all afternoon today trying to put down an old Platters hit that should have taken 5 minutes. I copy and play all of the music in less time than it takes me to figure out the damn mic. I admit I am not an audio engineer but I am no dummy either. Any of you gurus out here can answer here but also send me a copy of the reply to my email address if you have time. tlangnypd@earthlink.net

Many thanks
Tom

Can you attach an mp3 clip of the type of sound you are recording? That would help to diagnose it.
