What have i done wrong, when recording my band using a fostex d80 i found that the drum track has transfered itself to every other track in the mix. i used an analog mixer and recorded each track separately. The first thing i noticed was i could hear the drums phasing so i isolated every track and found the instrument i had recorded plus a muffled drum track. As soon as i recorded the drums i disconected the mic so it could not have been picking up the monitors. I'm new to all this recording business so i would really appreciate a bit of guidance.

yes the drum track was on the first track, but (how stupid am i) I realised that while i was monitoring the mix ,the recorded tracks were obviously being fed back into the recorder. I havent had the time to test out this theory but i'm hoping thats it. I havent heard of tracks masking each other but I'll keep my ear to the ground for anything. One of my friends is a bit of a whizz with this stuff so if i find out I'll post you a thread |
