Angry Error message on my TASCAM DP-02 ?????

HI!
I’ve hade my Tascam digital portastudio for about 3 moths and it was working fine. I was having a grate time recording. But just the other day I plugged it in and power it up. Then I got a message:

System Err 50: 0
Please PWR OFF

What in the hell is that. I can’t do anything on it now! Anybody out there knows or experienced this?

Unhappy Re: Error message on my TASCAM DP-02 ?????

I had a Tascam DP01FXCD until recently (I think it was the forerunner of your machine).
I never saw anything like that. Do you mean that it won't turn on anymore, or it will turn on but you can't do anything beyond that?

Whatever the case, it sounds like you might have to go to the manual and follow the instructions on a factory reboot--you know, where everything goes back to the default settings, like when you bought it.

Here's hoping that you've saved your stuff onto disc!

Not much help, sorry. Maybe before you reboot, you should go to the place where you bought it, or seek other advice.

Good luck
Chris

Default Re: Error message on my TASCAM DP-02 ?????

I had one for 5 weeks. That's how long it lasted. Then it stopped booting. It just went into la la land. I sent it back to Tascam. Haven't heard a word. I'm not sure I care. I view the thing as piece of junk and I'll dump it if I ever get it back. It was also terriby noisy. Mine didn't give an error message; it just wouldn't recognize a card and boot. Cheap Chinese junk. Too bad because it is a useful design and could be a good product if it had a little quality and reliability.

Default format of finished songs on TASCAM DP-02

I have recorded a few songs on the Tascam DP-02 and am trying to upload them to Myspace Music but I keep getting the message that the files are too big. When I burn them on CD from the Tascam they are in either CD Audio File format for PC or AIFF for a Mac. How do i get these files smaller?

Hendrix can you not just bounce the tracks over to your PC and mixdown to mp3 or wav from there?

I've got the CF and it works a charm. The HD one sounded awfully noisy in the shop at times when it accessed the HD.
