Default Nice (Higher End) Plugins / Bundles?

I'm thinking about investing in some higher quality plugins. I'm looking at things like UAD 2 Nevana 32, or perhaps a Waves Bundle, or a Duende system. Any suggestions / recommendations from those of you with experience in this area? At present I've got Sonar 8 Producer, with all it's associated plugins, & the Gold Bundle from Kjaerhus Audio as well as tons of free plugins... Looking for something to give that extra bit of polish to my mixes. Thanks.

Look into Stillwell Audio's plug-ins. The more I use them, the more I want to use them. I find that their Event Horizon plug really pleases my ears in it's Analog ****th setting. They have a couple of great compressors and a pretty cool EQ as well as a few other nice items.

lolgreg and Audio Geek have a thread going regarding these plugs as well.

Thanks, Vulc - yeah, I've been trying the Stillwell stuff & it does sound pretty damn good to me as well. Love that Badbussmojo on the drum buss! - I don't really understand how it works - I just fiddle with the controls until it sounds good!

Love my UA plugs. The UAD cards are a bonus to my mind. Totally kick ass on the Waves stuff. I do wish UA had a stereo imager, though.

Haha. I scared the crap out of my cousin and brother with that plug (BadBussMojo). I was messing around with it one night while they were outside the studio. I had it set super extreme, just to see what the heck it would do. They came back in when I happened to have it bypassed. I turned it back on without thinking and they both almost had a heart attack.

They thought I had blown up Cubase or the speakers or maybe them, I dunno.

How can you not love a plug-in that can do that?

Yeah, it can do extreme, but it can do subtle too!

Any in particular that you recommend?

I'd like to hear a plugins shootout! How do different compressors sound with the same settings? I'm always using the same EQ just because I'm comfortable with it, I 'd like to here the SSL plugins EQ and how it compares to my stock stuff.

... er....(cough).... the Mercury Bundle is possibly (just) a bit out of my price range....My budget probably would only stretch to accomodate the Gold Bundle...

You might want to check out the crysonic plugins:
HOME :: Crysonic - Professional Audio Plugins VST AU RTAS

Download a few of the demos and give them a try.

I have the Spectralive NXT and really like the polish it puts on my mixes.
