Sennheiser HD380pro
i got these 3 weeks ago. i think i'm just finished with adjusting to them. it was a toss between the senny and the ATs everyone's raving about. i went for the lighter headphones which can see lower frequencies.
my previous headphones, hd202s had a nice deceiving sound, tons and TONS of low end and a rolled treble. when i plugged the the 380 into the laptop with my music listening EQ settings(designed to add top end to the woofy 202), it sounded quite piercing and thin. i disabled the EQ and bass boost in Media Player and everything sounded very open. all of the sudden, the distorted guitar sounds are not level with the high end in the mix, i can hear stuff like hi hats much better. although it's reasonably even it's still has enough balls (bass and low mid) as a quick AB between an unknown metal song and Until it Sleeps shows.
compared to the 202, the 380 has alot of detail across the board, it's a bit more fatiguing but i can listen to it with much lesser volumes. i still put the 202s on to have an idea of what's happening on systems with alot of bass (no, it's not going to be accurate, but i tells me if the bass is over the top).
