Default Sennheiser HD 280 Pro vs Sony MDR 7506 Headphones

I need a few opinions on Headphones. I've had a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 Pro's for about a year and love the sound quality and they have very little if any bleed. One thing I don't like is the coiled cable. Move too far from a mixer and they will pop of my head. If anyone else is having this problem here is the answer. I contacted Sennheiser and they have a straight cable replacement, part # 091070. If you send them in and pay freight plus $ 30.00, they will change the cable. But, if you call 860-434-9190 and press 1 for sales, you can order the cable for $ 10.02 plus postage.

Now for the opinion:
Has anyone had any experience with the Sony MDR 7506 Headphones ?
And a comparison between them and the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro.
I need to add another set and don't want to go through the cable mess again.

Thanks

yeah. i have those too. i use em for mixing and for my piano (digital) for playing/practice. really consistent sound. and i strongly agree about the coil. a bit useless for my purposes. i dont like not knowing when im going to break something really expensive.

Whitehawk, in my opinion, the 7506's are loud cans that work wonders for drummers. A bit bass heavy for me and light on mids....I'd never try to mix using them. I like the HD 280's better. But what I like even better than the 280's are AKG K 240DF's. To me, they are the best headphones I have ever used for studio monitoring/mixing purposes. They are fairly loud, but not as loud as the Senn's or the Sony's. However, they may not have the output, but mixing in them vs the others and the AKG's win for me every time. I have quite a few different sets...but the AKG's are the ones "I" reach for when I monitor or check mixes in my studio. Hope this helps, good luck.

I just bought a set of MDR 7506's a couple weeks ago after reading numerous reviews. Got em to replace my dying Sennheiser HD 497's.. They sound ok for $99, and like Dan said the mids could be a little more present..

I've only had them fall off my head once so far because of the coiled cord..it can be annoying.

Cable mess ?? Sen has been offering plug in cables at least as far back as the early '80s. I real dealer can get these for you.

My solution was to just do my own wiring on sets that didn't have plug-in connections.
