Need some opinions about Headphones!

Hello everybody!

I've been used to work on a Sony MDR-CD3000 headphones since the early 90's... And I feel very disappointed since a few years. My Sony best friend is getting really tired... So that I have to replace it but they unfortunately don't produce it anymore... What a shame.. I've tried and liked the Beyer DT 990 Pro but it's definitely not so good as the Sony.. So, the question is: what's your opinion? Is there a big product that I don't know yet? Make me discover it, please

Sennheiser HD580, 600, 650. HD280 if they have to be closed.

I only have one pair of closed - Beyer DT770 Pro's - The extra bass is magic for me.

I use ath m40s but like you mine are at the point of no record so I am going for the ath m70s going to give them a try-----------acoustic

Around the same price as the Sony's are the Sennheiser HD-650s which are very highly regarded and quite exceptional. I reach for mine regularly as another reference during the mix process and i find them very detailed.

For considerable less money but fairly close performance, i really like the Audio Technica ATH-AD700. Considering they are $300 less than the Sennies...i really dont hear $300 difference in performance.

They're really tempting me right now... I have a pair of 50$ sony headphones which are great but too... heavy for my liking. They sound muddy and I don't know why. Probably because of how cheap they are, so after microphones, this is my next buy.

I use the Beyer DT 770's as well... A very nice low end. I've never actually tried the sonys before but i've heard good things. Good luck

I think 300.00 IS just so not worth iT for me WHEN iT COMES TO HEAD PHONES I mix with monitors any way my room dead to out side sound so I just have a cheep pair just for fun -------acoustic

Almost every engineer I know swears by the HD600's so I got a pair as well.
Not too much bass but very balanced.
